And what a sweet time of the year it is. The overwhelming heat starts giving up, people have returned from their summer vacations and adventures, little ones are getting back to their school routines, and I get to concentrate on being artsy and crafty! During last spring I decided to put aside my masters thesis to be able to be a better crafts person. It feels super relieving not to have two big projects going on at the same time. The thesis will get done some day when I'm physically closer to the University of Helsinki. And while I'm here in Brasstown, I might as well take full advantage of the crafts surrounded atmosphere that's so special to this place.
This fall is going to be pretty busy, and it makes me feel excited. In less then two weeks there's the Fall Festival at the John C Campbell Folkschool, and especially since it was cancelled last year because of some crazy raining, I'm really looking forward to it! At the moment there is a little mountain of silk, lavender, flax seeds and embroidery thread to be made into nice little eye pillows. And after that, a pants making marathon. And all this while juggling a four year-old and a five month-old. We can do it!
